Josh: You’re from Indiana? I thought everyone there played basketball?? Seriously, how did you get into skiing while living in a state that has no real mountains? I know Indiana has some skiing, but I’m still impressed that a Hoosier came out with an Olympic medal in slopestyle!
Nick: I started skiing when I was 5 at a local resort and once I learned to do tricks and “catch air” I was hooked!
Josh: Do you have a favorite song, band or album that gets you pumped before you make a run?
Nick: I like to change it up between Rap, R&B, and Rock depending on my mood that day.
Josh: What’s the first thing you think of when I say ‘Sochi?’
Freestyle Skiing – Winter Olympics Day 6
Nick: Sochi will always hold a special place in my heart since it was my first Olympics, as well as making history with my two teammates in an American sweep.
Josh: I think most of us here in the States will remember Sochi for the slummy conditions that were portrayed in the media. Was it as bad as it looked over there?
Nick: All of my accommodations and hospitality were great and of course made for great stories and memories.
Josh: Dew Tour, X Games, Sochi — out of everything you’ve accomplished, what’s your most proud moment?
Nick: I would have to say winning my first X Games gold medal, because that had been my dream for so long while I was growing up.
Josh: If you had one passion away from skiing, what would it be?
Nick: My newest passion and venture is downhill ice skate racing on a course consisting of jumps, turns, and drops. I posted a video on my social media channels, check it out!
Josh: What’s one thing you’re willing to share with your fans that they definitely don’t know about?
Nick: I learned how to hip hop dance over the summer, stay tuned for some videos!
Josh: No. 1 thing you’re looking forward to about X Games Aspen?
Nick: Competing, of course! I always love seeing what everyone else is working on and getting to hang out with my fellow skiers too.
Josh: Why should we root for Nick Goepper?
Nick: I always like hearing the love and support from my fans and it makes me compete even harder.
