BACKGROUND
Manteo is best known for breaking his leg while running in the 2012 Olympic 4x400m relay and carrying on, allowing his team to qualify to the final race and bring home the Silver medal.
He is now trying his hand at a new sport, Bobsled, with his sights set for the 2026 Winter Olympics. He is seeking history by becoming only the 8th person to medal in both the Summer and Winter Games and would be the first African American male to achieve this feat.
Outside of sport, Manteo speaks around the world talking about his Olympic experience and is a fierce mental health advocate. As a husband and father of two, he hopes to inspire the next generation on and off the field of play.
