BACKGROUND

Malinin is the first and only skater to land a fully rotated quadruple Axel, widely regarded as the hardest jump in figure skating, in international competition. This also gave him the title Guiness World record-holder in 2022. Most recently, he posted his personal best short program score to take home his third straight World Championship title.

Born in the U.S. with both parents being Olympic and Uzbekistan National Champion figure skaters, Ilia has skating in his blood. He is fluent in both Russian and English.

He was named to Time magazine’s Time100 Next List of emerging leaders from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership. He helped Team USA bring home the Team Gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics. At the Milan Cortina Olympics he became a household name not only for his skating, but also his class and sportsmanship. Because of this, he was awarded the 2026 Fair Play Award that recognizes acts of sportsmanship, integrity, and solidarity witnessed during the Olympic Games.

When not on the ice, Ilia is passionate about fashion, skin and haircare, skateboarding, and shows off his Fortnite skills on his Twitch account.
