After initially debuting at Cecilie Bahnsen’s standout show at last September’s S/S25 Paris fashion week, The North Face has officially dropped their first collaboration with the cult-luxury label – where Gorpcore met girly gothic.
The collab fuses Bahnsen’s iconic ultra-feminine aesthetic of voluminous silhouettes and floral decals with The North Face’s performance-first approach to outdoors wear, expertly tapping into the growing trend already taking the fashion world by storm.
The capsule collection strays away from Bahnsen’s usual colour palette of baby pinks, reds and whites and instead goes for an all-black look for ultimate cohesion. It consists of reinterpretations of classic TNF pieces such as the Mountain Jacket and Basecamp Duffle.
But perhaps the stand-out piece from the collection is the Mountain Dress, a reimagining of the Mountain Jacket to be a bold, voluminous dress made of heavy-duty materials, retailing for £800.
‘I’ve always loved how women around the world wear my designs in their own way, and this collaboration builds on that spirit,’ Cecilie Bahnsen, Founder and Creative Director said on the collaboration. ‘The North Face’s technical expertise not only complements my designs but elevates how it’s lived in – effortless, functional, and ready for every day.’
The campaign for the collection shows both brand’s commitment to the culture of mountain and outdoor sports, as they’ve enlisted the help of 2024 Olympic silver medalist Brooke Raboutou, 2020 Olympic commentator and five-time UK national lead climbing champion Molly Thompson-Smith, and pro climber Solenne Piret to feature throughout the shoot.
So while it may not be the most accessible of outdoor gear, this is a serious collab marking fashion’s embrace of the great outdoors and commitment to the world of sports throughout their design.
Now catch us hiking, climbing and exploring with serious style this spring.
The North Face x Cecilie Bahnsen collaboration starts at £315 and is available from March 13th at thenorthface.co.uk.
