Ilia Malinin was undefeated in the 2024-25 season, becoming the first skater to attempt seven quadruple jumps in a single program, claiming his third straight national championship and securing his second consecutive world championships title. He is also the only skater ever to have landed a fully rotated quadruple Axel, considered the hardest jump in figure skating, in international competition. Malinin is seen as the overwhelming gold-medal favorite for the 2026 Olympics.
