Lawrenceburg held a welcome home parade for their bronze medalist Saturday.
Nick Goepper and his family celebrated with the parade down Main Street.
Goepper won the bronze medal in ski slopestyle in the Sochi Olympics.
“I’m just so honored to be able to come home and have this kind of reception. Support from home has been more than amazing,” Goepper said. “One of my greatest assets is having Midwest roots, and an amazing family and coming from southeastern Indiana.”
Goepper traded in his skis for a seat in an old fashioned fire truck that he rode through Lawrenceburg.
Hometown friends chanted and waived the American flag to welcome Goepper home with pride.
“I’ve known Nick for the 10 or 11 years. He is a great competitor and hometown boy, and we’re really proud of him here in Lawrenceburg,” Goepper’s friend Kyle Newsome said.
Goepper received the key to the city, and raised more than $5,000 for cystic fibrosis and diabetes research through Saturday’s celebrations.
