Patients at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children got a chance to meet a real Olympic star last week.
Nastia Liukin, who won five gymnastic medals for the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, including a gold in the all-around, stopped by the Bayside facility on Friday.
She came to inspire youngsters to find the champion in each of them.
Liukin, who is now a student at New York University, won nine World Championship medals and is a four-time all-around U.S. National Champion.
The hospital serves children with complex medical conditions.
