Inside Olympian Devin Logan’s Closet

Devin Logan, who won silver in the Winter Olympics in the inaugural slopestyle competition, is one of the most decorated women in the sport. But her closet is taking on a new challenge: heels.

With a higher profile and public appearances lined up, the 21-year-old freeskier said she has introduced more fashionable styles to the mix.

“I’ve been adding more heels in my life. But I’m 5’10, so the whole height thing is already a lot,” Logan told Footwear News. “As I started to wear more heels, I was definitely thinking I would rather have been wearing my ski boots [for the comfort], and that’s hard to say.”

While she’s been easing into the stiletto life, starting with shorter heights and wedges, the change in wardrobe hasn’t been too difficult. “I’m a shoe fiend,” said Logan, who lives and trains in Park City, Utah, and is a student at nearby Westminster College in Salt Lake City. “My last skiing season, [shoes] were basically all I spent my prize money on. “

Pairs owned: 25
Brands: Creative Recreation, Lucky Brand, Nike, Nine West, The North Face, Steve Madden, Timberland, Vans
Most treasured pair: “For my birthday, I ordered a pair of Timberland boots that say [my nickname], ‘D Lo,’ on them.”
Most spent on a pair: $275, for the custom Timberlands
Best bargain: “I just bought a pair of camo boat shoes for summer. There was a sale and I had a coupon, so I think they were, like, $9.”
Next purchase: “I’m still shopping for more shoes to go with all my new dresses. I’m leaving tomorrow for an event and I’m running out of shoes. I’m looking for more open-toe styles, now that it’s summertime, and some dress-up things.”
Fashion don’ts: “I try not to go over 3 inches in heels. And I don’t like doing all the buckles and stuff. I like a nice, clean look.”
Sneaker style: “If there’s anything in a camo print, that catches my eye. And I’ve been looking into sneaker wedges. I haven’t found a pair I want yet, but that will come.”
Favorite retailers: “Recently I’ve been doing a lot more glamorous shopping than I’m used to, so when I have events going on I try to get everything done all together. There’s a Tanger Outlet Center [nearby] with a BCBG store that has great dresses and shoes. Being on the road so much, I do a lot of online shopping, [so I also go to] Zappos.com because of the overnight shipping.”
