BACKGROUND

Growing up in Texas, Tom tried all sports but fell in love with karate at the age 8. His instructors quickly became his role models and mentors as he started showing promise within the sport.

Tom quickly rose in ranks and entered the competitive adult karate at 18 years old. Since then he has taken home a number of titles including 5-time Pan American Champion, 10-time USA National Champion, 6-time North American Cup Champion among many others. He is currently the most decorated karate athlete for Team USA.

With karate making its debut in the Olympic Games in 2020, Tom is looking to etch his name in the history books for the United States. The sport of karate started in Japan and will bring the sport full circle with the 2020 Games being held in Tokyo.

Tom hopes to bring a much larger audience and appreciation to the sport he loves. Tom teaches Karate at the Academy of Classical Karate in Plano, Texas, and loves helping many kids and adults build better lives through the study of karate.

In 2012, Tom graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and in 2014 he received his Masters Degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Texas Christian University.

Outside of karate, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He is a major fan of all Dallas sports teams and an avid TCU Horned Frog fan. Additionally, Tom is very passionate about his faith and loves sharing his journey with others.
